PSG and Liverpool Eyeing Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

The winter transfer window is in full swing, with several clubs already completing some pretty big moves. And now it looks like PSG and Liverpool are also willing to dip their toes into the market by registering an interest to acquire Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. According to several reports, both the clubs are looking to sign the Georgian internation if the price is right.

Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed this development via his official x (formerly Twitter) account. He wrote, “Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has definitely opened doors to January exit. PSG, on it. Paris Saint-Germain, favorites and in direct contact with Napoli — as revealed today.” Napoli, who are currently topping the Serie A standings in Antonio Conte’s first season, are in no rush to offload their star player. Kvaratskhelia has played a key role in Napoli’s stellar league form, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists in 17 Serie A games. However, the Partenopei are willing to part ways with the Georgian if the right offer arrives – and the right offer according to Napoli’s hierarchy is anything over 80-million euros.

Kvaratskhelia’s current deal with Napoli expires at the end of the 2026/27 season, and talks of a contract extension have hit a dead end. Hence, the Partenopei are willing to let Kvara go. At the moment, French giants PSG are leading the race to sign the Georgian, but they aren’t alone. Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United are also monitoring Kvara’s situation. According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, “Liverpool could consider a move to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli — should it be decided that he is to exit the club in this transfer window.” However, a Merseyside move for Kvaratskhelia can only come to fruition if Liverpool decide to offload a player for a significant fee. The Reds already have players like Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez who can play on the left wing. Therefore, a move to Liverpool looks very unlikely at the moment.

A move to Manchester United, however, seems like a natural fit for both the player and the club. The Red Devils, under Ruben Amorim’s guidance, are in the midst of a rebuild, and the addition of a talent like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could breathe new life into their squad. Interestingly, with United reportedly considering offloading Marcus Rashford and Napoli showing concrete interest in the English forward, there’s potential for a swap deal to take shape. Such an arrangement could benefit all parties involved. United’s existing rapport with Napoli, following the sale of Scott McTominay to the Italian side last summer, might also pave the way for smoother negotiations. With both clubs having established mutual trust, a deal centering around Kvaratskhelia and Rashford could be thrashed. With PSG, Liverpool and Manchester United all interested in Kvaratskhelia, this transfer saga could ramble on for the entire month.
