Liverpool have flatly turned down a £58.6 million offer from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz, reinforcing their stance that the Colombian winger isn’t for sale. Bayern approached the Premier League giants earlier this month, and while Diaz is high on their wishlist, Liverpool made it crystal clear — they’re not letting him go.
The German club made their first formal bid on Tuesday, offering €67.5 million for the 28-year-old. But the Reds wasted no time in rejecting it. Liverpool reportedly value Diaz north of €100 million, though insiders say that figure is more about accounting than an actual willingness to negotiate.
Diaz joined Liverpool in January 2022 from Porto for an initial £37.5 million, potentially rising to £50 million with add-ons. Since then, he’s been a regular presence under both Jürgen Klopp and now Arne Slot, racking up 148 appearances and producing 41 goals and 23 assists across all competitions.
Diaz has just under two years left on his current contract, and there’s been no real progress on a renewal. Behind the scenes, the Colombian has expressed a desire to leave, adding some fuel to the speculation surrounding his future. Despite that, Liverpool still see him as a key figure in their plans moving forward. That message has been delivered loud and clear to Bayern, Barcelona, and any other clubs sniffing around. Interest in Diaz isn’t new. Manchester City showed interest last summer, and clubs in Saudi Arabia have kept tabs on him too. But Bayern Munich seem particularly serious this time around. For them, Diaz isn’t just another option — he’s seen as the ideal signing to sharpen their wide play and add flair to the final third. There’s talk of a second, improved bid on the horizon.
Yet questions still linger. Does Liverpool truly want to sell him? Would Diaz prefer a move to Barcelona instead? Despite Bayern’s aggressive pursuit, there’s no indication the Anfield hierarchy are budging anytime soon.
While it’s clear Diaz’s future is up in the air, Liverpool are standing firm for now. But if the Colombian’s desire to leave intensifies — and Bayern or Barcelona get closer to that £100 million mark — this story might just have a few more twists before the window closes.
