Cristiano Ronaldo Extends Al Nassr Stay with Eye-Watering New Deal

For much of the summer, one question kept popping up among football fans: will Cristiano Ronaldo return to Europe, or stay in Saudi Arabia? That’s now been answered. Ronaldo has put pen to paper on a fresh two-year contract with Al Nassr, committing his future to the Saudi Pro League and keeping him in the game until at least the age of 42.

"A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together," Ronaldo wrote on social media, confirming the news himself. Since joining Al Nassr in late 2022 after leaving Manchester United, Ronaldo has made a massive impact. In 105 appearances across all competitions, he’s scored 93 goals.

Despite his individual brilliance, Al Nassr haven’t quite managed to reach the summit domestically. While Ronaldo helped the club win the Arab Club Champions Cup, they’ve twice finished runners-up in the league since his arrival and slipped to third place last season. Those disappointments even sparked rumors he might be on the move again, but that speculation has now been put to bed.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Jaw-Dropping Salary Package

According to TalkSport, Ronaldo’s new deal is one of the most lucrative ever. He’s set to earn a staggering £178 million per year—roughly €400 million or ₹2,000 crore over two years. And the breakdown is even more jaw-dropping:

  • £24.5 million signing bonus in the first year, rising to £38 million in the second
  • £8 million bonus if Al Nassr win the Saudi Pro League
  • £5 million bonus for winning the Asian Champions League
  • £4 million if he wins the Golden Boot
  • 15% ownership of Al Nassr, estimated to be worth £33 million
  • £80,000 per goal (with a 20% increase in year two)
  • £40,000 per assist (also increasing by 20% in the second year)
  • £60 million in guaranteed sponsorship deals
  • £4 million in private jet expenses covered by the club

The package is a reflection of Ronaldo’s influence, not just on the pitch but commercially too. Since his arrival, several top European names—like former teammate Karim Benzema—have followed him to the Saudi Pro League. Even at 40, Ronaldo’s hunger for success hasn’t dimmed. He recently led Portugal to another UEFA Nations League title, beating Spain in the final, and he’s now edging ever closer to an extraordinary milestone: 1,000 career goals. His tally currently stands at 932—794 in club football and 138 for Portugal.

There had been whispers of a potential farewell after the final game of last season, with Ronaldo dropping subtle hints about a possible exit. Al Nassr’s sporting director, Fernando Hierro, even admitted in May that other clubs were circling. But the Portuguese icon has chosen to stay, ending any talk of a seventh professional club. With a new contract in hand and plenty still left in the tank, Ronaldo isn’t going anywhere just yet. His mission remains clear: break more records, win more trophies, and keep writing history.
