Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the summer, with Christian Norgaard on the verge of completing a move from Brentford. The Danish midfielder has reportedly been given the go-ahead to undergo a medical, bringing him a step closer to realizing a dream transfer to the Emirates.
Talks are still underway between Arsenal and the 31-year-old over the length of his contract, but the deal is advancing quickly. A total package worth around £12 million is on the table, with an initial fee of about £9.5 million included in the agreement. Personal terms are not expected to be a stumbling block.

Norgaard has been high on Mikel Arteta’s radar as Arsenal prepare to reshape their midfield ahead of the new season. With Thomas Partey expected to leave when his contract expires next week — following Jorginho out the door — the Gunners have wasted little time in targeting a replacement. Partey’s camp has already been approached by clubs from both Saudi Arabia and mainland Europe.
Norgaard’s desire to make the move has been clear, and he’s now just a medical away from becoming Arsenal’s first new face of the summer. He won’t be the only addition, either — Kepa Arrizabalaga is also expected in London this week to finalise a £5 million move from Chelsea as Arteta looks to bolster his options across the pitch.
Norgaard has two years left on his deal with Brentford but is keen to take the next step in his career. Since joining the Bees from Fiorentina back in 2019, the midfielder has been one of Thomas Frank’s most trusted players. He’s made 192 appearances in all competitions for Brentford, scored 13 goals, and was instrumental in their promotion to the Premier League. Over the last four seasons in the top flight, Norgaard has not only become a reliable presence in midfield but also the club’s captain and emotional leader.
Now, with Arsenal preparing to return for pre-season training, it looks like they’ll have a seasoned Premier League performer ready to slot in and bring some steel to their midfield ahead of a massive 2025–26 campaign.
