Shubman Gill's Record: Second Fastest 1000 Runs at a Single Venue

Shubman Gill has been the heartbeat of Gujarat Titans’ batting lineup since joining the franchise, and he’s just added another record to his name. During GT’s clash against Mumbai Indians, Gill became the first player to score 1,000 IPL runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He achieved this milestone in just 20 innings, making him the fastest Indian to reach 1,000 runs at a single venue in IPL history.

Gill is now the second-fastest player overall to hit this landmark, just behind the explosive Chris Gayle, who reached the 1,000-run mark at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium in 19 innings. He outpaced big names like David Warner, Shaun Marsh, and Suryakumar Yadav in the process.

The Gujarat Titans skipper reached this milestone in style, bringing up his 1,000th run with his 14th run of the innings against MI. He looked in fine touch, smashing 38 off 27 balls, which included four crisp boundaries and a six. However, his stay at the crease was cut short by MI captain Hardik Pandya, who dismissed him after a well-played powerplay. Gill miscued a shot that went straight into the hands of Naman Dhir in the deep.

Before his departure, Gill and Sai Sudharsan had set a solid foundation for GT, putting on a strong 78-run opening stand, with 66 of those runs coming inside the powerplay. It was yet another reminder of why Gill is considered as the future of Indian cricket.
