Liam Livingstone Achieves 1000-Run Milestone in IPL

RCB’s top order had a nightmare start, losing their first three wickets within the powerplay. But just when things looked bleak, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma stepped up, launching a spirited counterattack that turned the game around.

However, Livingstone took his time to settle in, starting at less than a run-a-ball. Early on, he had a stroke of luck when Rahul Tewatia dropped him at long-on off Sai Kishore’s bowling. But once he got going, there was no stopping him. His defining moment came in the 17th over when he took on Rashid Khan, smashing three sixes in quick succession to bring up his half-century. Besides Livingstone, Jitesh played a handy knock, scoring 33 off 21 balls, while Livingstone led the charge with a gritty 54 off 40. Their partnership steadied the innings, before Tim David provided a late flourish with a blistering 16-ball 28. Thanks to their efforts, RCB recovered from a disastrous 35-3 to post a respectable 169-8 in their 20 overs.

Livingstone’s innings wasn’t just crucial for RCB – it was also a personal milestone, as he crossed the 1000-run mark in the IPL. It’s been quite a journey for the Englishman in the tournament. He made his IPL debut back in 2019 for Rajasthan Royals but struggled to make an impact. The franchise released him ahead of the 2020 season, only to bring him back in 2021. However, he was once again let go before the 2022 auction.

That’s when Punjab Kings took a massive bet on him, shelling out a whopping Rs 11.50 crore to bring him in. And that gamble paid off in style. The 2022 season turned out to be his best IPL campaign yet – he racked up 437 runs in 14 matches, with a top score of 70, averaging 36.42 and striking at a blistering 182.08.

Now playing for RCB, Livingstone is proving once again why he’s such a valuable asset in the middle order. His ability to absorb pressure and then explode with match-changing strokes makes him a key player for any side. And if he continues to fire, RCB could be looking at a deep run in this year’s IPL.
