Kane Williamson to Make Commentary Debut in IPL 2025

Kane Williamson may not have found a team in the IPL 2025 auction, but he will still be involved in the tournament – this time, from the commentary box. The former New Zealand captain and one-time Orange Cap winner has been handed a last-minute opportunity to join the IPL commentary panel for a 10-day stint during the early part of the season.

This will be Williamson’s first time as a commentator, and given his deep understanding of the game, his presence is expected to add valuable insights to the broadcast. A two-time IPL champion and one of the most respected batters of his generation, Williamson’s tactical expertise and calm demeanor will bring a fresh perspective to the coverage. After his brief commentary role in the IPL, Williamson will turn his attention to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, where he has been signed by Karachi Kings. He will be joining forces with David Warner, another major international star, as the Kings look to make an impact in PSL 10. With the PSL set to run from 8th April to 18th May, it marks the first time the tournament will overlap with the IPL. 

Besides Kane Williamson, The IPL 2025 commentary panel is packed with big names from the cricketing world. Fans can look forward to hearing insights from Shane Watson, Mark Boucher, AB de Villiers, Virender Sehwag, Shikhar Dhawan, and Suresh Raina, all of whom have recently played in the league. Their firsthand experience with current players and franchises will bring a dressing-room perspective to the broadcast. 

Other familiar voices in the lineup include Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa, Murali Vijay, and Kedar Jadhav, ensuring a wide range of viewpoints and expertise. The Tamil feed will feature a special pairing – father-son duo K Srikkanth and Anirudh Srikkanth, while Manvinder Bisla, who played a match-winning knock in the 2012 IPL final, will lead the Haryanvi commentary.
