Jasprit Bumrah Fit and Training at NCA | Wife Sanjana Ganesan Shares Update

Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the premier bowlers in world cricket for the past few years, but injuries have often struck at the worst possible times. His latest setback – a back injury – forced him to miss the ICC Champions Trophy, dealing a huge blow to India’s campaign. However, there’s finally some good news for Indian fans. Bumrah’s wife has provided an encouraging update on his recovery.

After dominating the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a stunning 32-wicket haul – the most by any bowler in the series – Jasprit Bumrah’s Champions Trophy dreams were cut short. Concerns had already been raised about the heavy workload he carried in the grueling Australian summer, and unfortunately, those fears became reality when he limped off the field during the final Test in Sydney. Now, over a month since that painful moment, fans have finally received an update on his recovery – but from an unexpected source. Bumrah’s wife, sports anchor Sanjana Ganesan, shared the latest news during an interview with Bangladeshi all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Jasprit Bumrah has begun training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, according to Sanjana. When asked about his recovery by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, she gave a reassuring update. “He is okay. He is training at the NCA,” Sanjana confirmed. Miraz couldn’t hide his relief at Bumrah’s absence from the tournament, praising the Indian pacer’s skill. “He is a very different bowler and very dangerous, uff! He is not coming here. We are very happy! He is very dangerous. Everybody respects him. Every batter. I got out against him two times. He has improved a lot. He bowls both ways,” he said.

Young pacer Harshit Rana, who made his ODI debut in the recent three-game ODI series against England, will replace Bumrah in India’s Champions Trophy squad. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah will hit India hard. After all, he took 86 wickets in 21 matches in all formats in 2024. Moreover, Bumrah also picked up ICC Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year after stellar showing throughout 2024. With Bumrah sidelined, the responsibility of leading India’s bowling attack falls on the experienced shoulders of Mohammed Shami.
