England’s rising star Jacob Bethell is on track to recover from his injury just in time for IPL 2025. The talented left-hander, who was snapped up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in last year’s mega auction, is expected to be fit and ready for the tournament opener against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on 22nd March.
Bethell made headlines with his impressive performances against India in a bilateral series leading up to the ICC Champions Trophy. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury ruled him out of the marquee event. But now, according to reports from Daily Mail, he has regained full fitness and is set to link up with RCB for his first-ever IPL campaign. While the franchise hasn’t made an official announcement yet, the news has already generated excitement among RCB fans eager to see him in action.

The 21-year-old was bought for INR 2.6 crore at the mega auction, and his T20 record speaks for itself – 1,127 runs in 63 matches at a strike rate of 136.77. Beyond his explosive batting in the middle order, Bethell’s handy left-arm spin adds another dimension to RCB’s setup, making him a valuable asset for the team.
Meanwhile, in a setback for Mumbai Indians, England pacer Reece Topley is set to miss the tournament after undergoing hernia surgery. His absence leaves MI in search of a replacement, with an official announcement expected soon.
