Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed it will host a Women's ODI tri-series featuring India, South Africa, and the hosts from 27th April to 11th May 2025. Though not originally part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP), this series will be a crucial warm-up for all three teams ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup in India later this year.
At the moment, Sri Lanka are on a white-ball tour of New Zealand, while many Indian and South African players are busy with the Women’s Premier League (WPL) back home. Before this tri-series was scheduled, South Africa’s next international assignment wasn’t until June, when they were set to tour the West Indies.

With the World Cup fast approaching in October, this series offers valuable game time and preparation for all three sides. Sri Lanka come in as the reigning Asia Cup champions, while South Africa will be eager to build on their strong 2022 ODI World Cup campaign, where they reached the semi-finals after knocking India out. However, India hold the highest ranking of the trio, currently sitting third in the ICC ODI rankings, with South Africa at fourth and Sri Lanka at seventh.
