Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) endured another tough night at home, suffering their third straight defeat at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL). This time, it was Gujarat Giants (GG) who got the better of them, cruising to a six-wicket win on Thursday.
At one point, it looked like RCB might make a game of it. GG had a shaky start chasing a modest 126, but everything changed in the ninth over. Rookie Prema Rawat was taken apart by Ashleigh Gardner, who smashed three fours and a six, completely shifting the momentum in Gujarat’s favor. What seemed like a tricky chase quickly turned into a walk in the park. RCB’s home struggles continued, leaving them winless in three games at their own fortress. With this result, RCB, GG, and UP Warriorz are now locked on four points each, making the race for the playoffs even more intense.

Skipper Smriti Mandhana tried to put up a fight by using Renuka Singh’s full quota early on. The pacer did her part, removing both openers—Dayalan Hemalatha (11 off 15) and Beth Mooney (17 off 20). Georgia Wareham also chipped in by dismissing Harleen Deol for just five. But it wasn’t enough. Gardner (41 off 26) and Phoebe Litchfield (30* off 21) put on a match-winning 51-run stand off just 36 balls, ensuring GG got home comfortably with 21 balls to spare.
While GG remains in fifth place, this dominant win gave their net run rate a crucial boost. Meanwhile, RCB will need to find answers quickly if they want to turn their home form around.
