David Miller Completes 3000 Runs in IPL

David Miller has quietly etched his name into IPL history, crossing the 3,000-run mark in style. The South African powerhouse reached the milestone during Lucknow Super Giants’ clash against Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

He needed just 17 runs to get there and did so with ease, eventually finishing with a brisk 27 off 14 balls. Though Hardik Pandya got the better of him in the final over, Miller had already done his job – getting LSG past the 200-run mark with a flurry of boundaries, including three fours and a six. This wasn’t just another knock for Miller – it was the cherry on top of an IPL journey that began all the way back in 2012. Now in his 134th appearance and 128th innings, he’s racked up 3,010 runs at an impressive average north of 36. His resume includes 13 fifties and a hundred.

Miller made his IPL debut with Punjab Kings and was instrumental in their incredible 2014 season when they came agonizingly close to the title. He spent a good chunk of his career with them – seven seasons, to be exact – and left as their third-highest run-getter with 1,850 runs from 79 matches at 34.25. Later, he had stints with Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans, where he truly found a second wind. In fact, according to ESPNcricinfo, he’s also the third-highest scorer for GT, having piled up 950 runs at a stunning average of 45.23.

Of course, no Miller conversation is complete without talking about that unforgettable night in 2013. Batting for Punjab against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Miller slammed an unbeaten 101 off just 38 balls – bringing up his century in a jaw-dropping 37 deliveries. It remains the third-fastest hundred in IPL history, with only Chris Gayle and Yusuf Pathan ahead of him on that list. That knock, as explosive as it was memorable, turned him into a household name overnight.

Over the years, Miller has built a reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous finishers. His ability to take on bowlers in the middle overs and shift gears at the death makes him a prized asset in any lineup. And while he might not always hog the headlines, his contributions speak for themselves.
