Corporate Premier League Season 2 Auction

The Corporate Premier League (CPL) is back for its second season, and this time, it’s bigger, bolder, and packed with even more action! Organizers are pulling out all the stops to make this edition an absolute spectacle, and with the tournament expanding from just four teams to a whopping 12, there’s plenty of excitement in store.

The tournament kicks off with the group stage, where the teams are divided into four pools of three. Each team plays the others in its pool in a round-robin format. From the group stage, the top two teams from each pool advance to the Super 8 stage, where the intensity rises, and every match becomes crucial. The Super 8 winners then move on to the playoffs, where the battle for the championship truly heats up. The semi-finalists not only get a shot at the title but also earn cash prizes based on their final standings. Each match will be played in the T20 format.

Nearly 150 players threw their hats in the ring, hoping to land a spot in one of the 12 teams. But how did these squads take shape? What were the auction rules that dictated the bidding frenzy? Let’s break it all down.

Auction Rules

Each team in the Corporate Premier League auction had a purse of 1 crore points to build their squad. With a maximum squad size of 17 players, team owners and management had to be strategic in their bidding to assemble a balanced and competitive lineup.

Before the auction kicks off, each team was allowed to retain or directly pick up to three players. This gives teams a chance to hold on to their core players and build around them. Additionally, players had the opportunity to choose a preferred team. However, if another team secures their bid during the auction, the preferred team will have the Right to Match (RTM) option, allowing them to match the bid and retain the player.

With the auction rules explained and now out of the way, here’s how each team looks after the CPL 2025 mega-auction.
