Australia Seal 5-0 T20 Whitewash Over West Indies to Finish Tour Unbeaten

Australia capped off a dominant tour of the Caribbean with a 5-0 whitewash over the West Indies in the T20 series, sealing the final game by three wickets in St Kitts. After already crushing the hosts 3-0 in the Test series, the Aussies kept their foot on the gas in the shortest format to complete a remarkable 8-0 record across formats.

Put in to bat at Warner Park, the West Indies posted a respectable 170, thanks largely to Shimron Hetmyer’s fluent 52 from 31 balls. Ben Dwarshuis was the pick of the Australian bowlers, finishing with 3-41. At 170, the Windies looked like they had given themselves a fighting chance, and when their bowlers reduced Australia to 25-3 early in the chase, the home fans dared to hope.

But then came the firepower of Australia’s middle order. Cameron Green, Tim David and Mitchell Owen turned the game in a matter of overs. Green smashed 32 off just 18 deliveries, David entertained with a blistering 30 from only 12 balls — including four towering sixes — while Owen raced to 37 in 17 balls, hammering three fours and three sixes. Their counterattack ripped the momentum away from the West Indies and put the Aussies back in control.

Akeal Hosein, surprisingly held back until the 10th over, briefly dragged his team back into the contest. He dismissed the dangerous Owen, later removed Green, and even accounted for Dwarshuis, but by then the damage had been done. Aaron Hardie anchored the innings from there, staying unbeaten on 28 from 25 balls to guide Australia home with three overs still left.

It was another clinical performance in a series where Australia always seemed to find the right answers. For skipper Mitchell Marsh, the result was as satisfying as it was unexpected. "I didn't expect 5-0 at the start of the series," Marsh admitted after the win. "But we played some great cricket. It was something we spoke about after the fourth game. We knew no Australian team had completed a clean sweep. We've had guys come in and played different roles for us."

That depth was on full display throughout the series, with different players stepping up whenever required. David’s explosive hitting, Green’s versatility, Owen’s fearless batting, and the steady hand of Hardie all combined to make sure the West Indies never found a way back into the contest.

For Australia, the tour couldn’t have gone any better — unbeaten across Tests and T20s, a perfect mix of established stars and emerging names, and a reminder of the sheer depth in their setup. For the West Indies, it was another frustrating outing where flashes of brilliance simply weren’t enough against an Australian side that looked relentless from start to finish.
