Victor Osimhen Nearing Galatasaray Move After Napoli Exit Agreed

Victor Osimhen’s time at Napoli is finally drawing to a close, with the Nigerian striker now on the verge of sealing a sensational permanent switch to Turkish giants Galatasaray. After months of speculation, sources in Naples suggest the reigning Super Lig champions have agreed to pay the €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract.

Galatasaray’s interest in the 26-year-old isn’t new, but things have rapidly picked up after Osimhen’s electric loan spell at RAMS Park. He scored a stunning 37 goals and chipped in with seven assists in 41 games last season, helping Gala win a domestic double and win over fans and boardroom alike. Now, they're moving heaven and earth to keep him.

Earlier this week, the Turkish club tested Napoli's resolve with a €50 million bid plus €5 million in add-ons, which was immediately turned down. A second improved offer of €60 million was also rejected. Napoli were firm: pay the full €75 million or no deal. And now, Galatasaray have come back with a bold move — they’re ready to meet the clause in full, though they’ve asked for the payment to be spread over five years. That’s the final hurdle. Napoli want clear guarantees on the payment structure before signing off. Talks are said to be in the final stages, with Galatasaray Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu expected in Italy soon to iron out the last details face-to-face.

For Osimhen, the decision is already made. He’s given the green light and is ready to commit to a four-year deal worth €16 million per season — €5 million more than what he currently earns at Napoli. It’s a massive offer, and it played a big part in his choice. Interestingly, Osimhen had previously turned down a massive €160 million offer from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. But this time, the appeal of Galatasaray, Istanbul, and the chance to be the face of their project was too tempting to resist.

On Napoli’s end, this deal makes sense. Antonio Conte doesn’t see Osimhen as part of his plans, preferring Romelu Lukaku to lead the line. Selling Osimhen gives them the funds to go all-in for a new striker, with Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez and Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca among the names on their radar. Now, if the two clubs shake hands soon, this could go down as one of the biggest deals in Turkish football history — and a huge statement of Galatasaray’s ambitions.
