Tottenham Eye Mohammed Kudus as Key Summer Signing Under Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank has barely had time to settle into his new role as Tottenham Hotspur head coach, having officially taken charge on June 13, but Spurs are already moving with intent in the transfer market. With fresh Champions League qualification and Europa League glory behind them, the club is looking to back their new boss with serious reinforcements — and Mohammed Kudus has emerged as their top attacking target.

According to Matt Law, Tottenham are ready to break their long-standing transfer cold war with West Ham United to try and land the Ghanaian star. Kudus could become the first player in over a decade to move directly from the Hammers to Spurs — the last being Scott Parker back in 2011. That history alone makes the potential move eye-catching, but it’s Kudus’ versatility and quality that really has the Tottenham hierarchy interested.

Kudus, 24, has a release clause reported to be around £85 million, but it only remains active for the first 10 days of July. Spurs are optimistic they won’t need to meet that full figure and believe a deal can be struck for significantly less. West Ham, under new boss Graham Potter, are open to selling Kudus in order to fund a squad rebuild, which could help negotiations move quickly.

Despite a slightly underwhelming campaign last season, Kudus has shown glimpses of the magic that convinced West Ham to sign him in the first place. He registered 19 goals and 13 assists in 80 games for the club and has proven he can handle the pace and physicality of the Premier League. His ability to operate anywhere across the frontline — whether out wide, as a No.10, or even up top — makes him a dream fit for Frank’s flexible system.

Spurs have considered other attacking options, including Bryan Mbeumo, Eberechi Eze, and Antoine Semenyo, but Kudus is now seen as the priority. The player is reportedly open to the move and sees it as the right step in his career. After a quiet year with the Hammers, joining an ambitious side competing in the Champions League could be exactly what he needs to hit top form again.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are weighing up how best to finance summer additions. They may look to offload a few squad players and could even receive new investment from majority owners ENIC or outside sources. Either way, Kudus is firmly on their radar, and with the transfer window heating up, this one could develop quickly.
