Team India Link Up with Manchester United Stars Ahead of Fourth Test at Old Trafford

This feel-good meeting wasn’t just a random run-in—it was made possible by their mutual kit sponsor, Adidas, who helped coordinate the unique crossover between the red-ball giants and the Premier League legends. Both teams are in Manchester for their respective sporting duties: the Indian cricketers are preparing for the crucial fourth Test, while United’s squad has just reported back for pre-season training. Among the many fun and memorable moments from the session, Indian captain Shubman Gill and Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes stole the spotlight with a jersey swap. The image of the two skippers posing side by side quickly went viral on social media.

The vibe at Carrington was light-hearted and playful. Indian stars got a taste of football, while United’s players tried their hands at cricket. Harry Maguire took a turn with the bat, facing deliveries from Mohammed Siraj. On the other side, Rishabh Pant walked up to the penalty spot and coolly slotted the ball. Also spotted at the meet-up were Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and United’s new manager Ruben Amorim. Their presence added an extra touch of gravitas to what was otherwise a relaxed, cross-sport hangout. The interaction offered both sets of players a chance to unwind, share laughs, and appreciate each other’s sporting cultures.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared several snapshots from the session, capturing everything from warm handshakes to shared smiles and casual skills. Adidas also released a statement following the meet-up, saying, “This activation marks a significant moment in sports, reinforcing adidas' reputation as a brand that not only equips athletes with premium gear but also brings teams across different sports together.”

India are set to face England in the fourth Test at Old Trafford starting July 23. England currently lead the five-match series 2-1, having won in Leeds and London, while India bounced back with a win in Birmingham. The series is delicately poised, and this bonding moment at Carrington was the perfect breather before battle resumes on the field.
