Myles Lewis-Skelly Commits to Arsenal Until 2030 After Breakout Season

Myles Lewis-Skelly has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Arsenal, keeping him at the club until 2030. The fresh deal comes on the back of a stunning breakthrough campaign, where the 18-year-old went from youth prospect to first-team regular.

Lewis-Skelly’s rapid rise saw him called up to the England senior squad by Thomas Tuchel, where he capped off his debut with a goal. At club level, he featured 39 times across all competitions for Arsenal last season, including 23 appearances in the Premier League. One of his standout moments came in a 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City at the Emirates, where he found the net in style.

With only a year left on his original professional deal from 2023, Arsenal wasted no time securing his future — especially with Real Madrid sniffing around after his impressive Champions League performances. His mother and agent, Marcia Lewis, played a key role in the negotiations, telling The Guardian recently that her son is “enjoying his football” in North London.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, Lewis-Skelly said, “I just want to keep learning and keep improving. I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that’s always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”

Lewis-Skelly made his first Champions League start last December in a 3-0 win over Monaco, where he helped set up the opening goal. His clever pass released Gabriel Jesus, who teed up Bukayo Saka to score. After the match, Saka was full of praise for his fellow academy graduate: “I just said to him, like I said before the game, that this is his level. He needs to have no doubts about the confidence, what he’s doing in training. I was pleased with him, he was a big part of the first goal. His future is very bright. He just needs to keep the same head that he’s got. His mentality is top, he’s always asking questions, looking to learn, so I’m so proud of him.”

Despite Arsenal splashing out over £40 million on Riccardo Calafiori last summer, Lewis-Skelly has locked down the left-back position and remains Mikel Arteta’s go-to option in that role heading into the new campaign. His renewal follows Gabriel Magalhães’ contract extension, as new sporting director Andrea Berta gets to work shaping the squad. Talks are still ongoing with William Saliba and Bukayo Saka, with the club hoping to tie down more of their core stars in the coming weeks.
