Interest in Jadon Sancho is picking up pace, and with multiple clubs circling, his summer transfer saga looks set to drag on. After a mixed loan spell at Chelsea, Manchester United have reportedly named their price, and now the race is on.
Sancho, 25, spent the 2024/25 season at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca, where he chipped in with five goals and ten assists across 42 appearances. He even found the net in Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League final win over Real Betis in May. But despite that strong finish, the Blues opted not to make his move permanent. Instead, they coughed up a £5 million penalty to send him back to Old Trafford.
A number of clubs have thrown their hat in the ring. According to reports, Serie A duo Napoli and AC Milan, along with Premier League side Aston Villa, have already made enquiries. However, Sancho’s £300,000-per-week wages are proving to be a stumbling block for several of the interested sides.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that United are pushing to sell Sancho outright this summer rather than entertain another loan. “Manchester United will give priority to selling Jadon Sancho on permanent deal before opening doors to loans,” he reported. United have reportedly slapped a £30 million price tag on the winger – a fee that’s caught the attention of clubs from Saudi Arabia.
While Saudi sides are tempted by Sancho’s star power and commercial pull, he reportedly prefers to remain in Europe for now. Borussia Dortmund, where Sancho lit up the Bundesliga and built his reputation, are seriously considering a reunion. His ties with the club are still strong, but once again, that hefty salary could complicate things. Napoli are also keen, though they’re not prepared to match his current wages either. Right now, it’s early days in negotiations, and more clubs could still join the chase.
Now, Sancho’s future hinges on three key factors: the transfer fee, his wage demands, and his personal ambitions. Having said that, one thing is clear — he’s not in United’s plans moving forward, and all parties seem open to a fresh start. Where he ends up next is anyone’s guess, but it’s shaping up to be one of the window’s most closely-watched stories.
