Liverpool Stand Firm on Luis Diaz Amid Bayern and Barca Interest

Liverpool have made it crystal clear that Luis Diaz isn’t going anywhere this summer. Bayern Munich recently made a move for the Colombian winger, but were swiftly turned away by the Reds. According to reports, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl was informed that Diaz is not for sale.

This wasn’t the first knock on Liverpool’s door for Diaz either. Earlier in the window, Barcelona had also tested the waters, only to receive the same firm response. And while Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr also showed interest, Liverpool remain unmoved.

From the club’s point of view, Diaz is seen as a key part of the squad’s present and future. He played a vital role in their Premier League title win last season, netting 13 goals and providing five assists. His relentless energy, directness, and eye for goal have made him one of the team’s most trusted attacking weapons. That sort of influence isn’t something Liverpool are willing to cash in on easily—despite knowing a big sale could help boost Arne Slot’s summer transfer plans.

Diaz still has two years left on the contract he signed when he joined from FC Porto in January 2022. The £49 million deal has proven to be a strong investment, with the 27-year-old racking up 41 goals in 148 appearances across all competitions so far. In that time, he’s helped Liverpool win the Premier League, the FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.

Even as the transfer rumour mill continues to churn, Diaz himself has done little to fuel speculation. While on international duty with Colombia last month, he reaffirmed his commitment to the club, saying, "I'm very, very happy in Liverpool. From day one, they've made me feel really welcome." That hasn’t stopped Bayern from trying, especially as they look for potential replacements for Leroy Sane, who has left the Allianz Arena for Galatasaray. Barcelona, too, have kept tabs on Diaz throughout the summer, hoping to bring in a player who can light up the flanks and add firepower to their forward line.

But Liverpool are holding their ground. For now, Diaz remains a vital piece in their plans under new manager Arne Slot. Whether that changes later in the window depends on a lot of moving parts, including how the Reds handle incoming transfers and their overall budget—but as things stand, Diaz isn’t going anywhere.
