Inter Make Their Move for Ademola Lookman with €40m Bid

Inter Milan are going all in for Ademola Lookman. The Serie A champions have made the Atalanta forward their number one attacking target this summer, and things are starting to heat up.

According to reports from Sky Sports, Inter’s American owners, Oaktree Capital, have greenlit a €40 million bid for the Nigerian international. While that figure is still short of Atalanta’s asking price — believed to be around €50 million — it’s a serious opening move. Crucially, Lookman himself is reportedly on board. He’s already agreed personal terms with Inter and is keen on a move to San Siro.

So far, there haven’t been any formal negotiations between the two clubs, but Inter have made their intentions clear. With Lookman giving the green light, the Nerazzurri hold a strong hand heading into potential talks. However, Atalanta aren’t going to roll over. The Bergamo side know they’ve got a valuable asset, and they want to cash in properly. The 27-year-old still has two years left on his deal, and Atalanta see his sale as a way to kickstart their own transfer business.

Despite not budging from their €50m stance, Atalanta are well aware that Lookman wants the move. That gives Inter leverage, even if they aren’t planning to up their opening offer. However, the Nigerian forward isn’t short of suitors either. Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on him, and Atlético Madrid are still in the mix — although any move from Spain might depend on them offloading an attacker first.

Fabrizio Romano added weight to the story on X, posting: “Ademola Lookman still plans to leave Atalanta… and Inter are preparing an official bid after positive talks with his camp. The opening bid can reach €40m as per CorSport; Atalanta want more. Atlético also insist for Lookman, if they can sell one more attacking player.” Inter, who had earlier looked at names like Lois Openda and Christopher Nkunku, have now clearly shifted all attention to Lookman. And from the looks of it, the interest is mutual.

For now, all eyes are on Atalanta. Inter’s offer is ready, Lookman is waiting, and negotiations could kick off any day. Whether €40 million will be enough remains to be seen — but one thing’s certain: Lookman’s time at Atalanta might be nearing its end.
