Chelsea Confident of Landing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig

Chelsea’s summer business is showing no signs of slowing down, and the latest name at the top of their list is RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons. The 22-year-old Dutchman is reportedly open to a move to Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea are now working to bring him in before the end of the window.

Despite only signing Simons permanently from Paris Saint-Germain in January for around €50 million (£42m), Leipzig are said to be open to selling him. Simons had been on loan at Leipzig for 18 months before his move was made official earlier this year, and his performances clearly haven’t gone unnoticed. While Chelsea haven’t agreed personal terms with the player just yet, they remain optimistic about getting a deal over the line. German outlets have also linked Bayern Munich with a possible move, and Simons has previously been on the radar of both Arsenal and Tottenham. However, it’s currently unclear whether either north London club will re-enter the race.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are "confident" they can land Simons for a fee in the region of £60 million. They will likely need to offload at least one more player to balance the books, but that’s not expected to be a major roadblock. If the deal goes through, Simons would become Chelsea’s eighth signing of the summer, joining a growing list of exciting young talents like Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao Willian, and Jamie Gittens. The Blues are clearly building for the future, stacking their squad with some of the brightest prospects in European football.

While Simons is the current priority, Chelsea haven’t taken their eyes off other targets. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers continues to be on their radar. The 22-year-old impressed in the second half of last season, and there’s been talk that Chelsea could make a move for him, particularly if Villa rekindle their interest in Nicolas Jackson. However, those discussions appear to be on the back burner for now.

The Blues are also believed to still hold an interest in Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, although a move for the Argentine winger this summer looks unlikely due to the depth Chelsea possesses on the wings. In the background, Chelsea are also advancing talks with Ajax for teenage defender Jorrel Hato. The 19-year-old has caught the eye with his maturity and calmness on the ball, and he could be another long-term addition to a squad being rebuilt under new boss Enzo Maresca.

It’s clear Chelsea’s recruitment strategy is focused on securing young, high-ceiling players who can be developed into stars. Xavi Simons fits that profile perfectly — a versatile, technically gifted midfielder who can contribute immediately while still having plenty of room to grow. Whether they can close the deal remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Chelsea aren’t done yet.
