Bryan Mbeumo Tells Brentford He Wants Manchester United Move Amid Ongoing Transfer Saga

Bryan Mbeumo has made his intentions clear—if he’s leaving Brentford this summer, it’s only for Manchester United. The 26-year-old forward, who’s contracted with Brentford until June 2026 (with the club holding an option for another year), has been the subject of interest from several top Premier League sides. Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle, and United have all shown varying degrees of interest, but it’s Old Trafford that’s caught Mbeumo’s eye.

According to multiple reports, Mbeumo has already informed Brentford and his former boss Thomas Frank—now managing Spurs—that he wants to join United if the clubs can agree on a deal. So far, that hasn’t happened. Brentford have turned down two bids from United, the latest one being £62.5 million, which matches the amount the Red Devils just paid for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. The initial offer of £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons didn’t do the trick either, and negotiations are still ongoing. Brentford are holding firm on their valuation, reportedly hoping to fetch even more than what United paid for Cunha. While United have the funds ready and are serious about Mbeumo, they’re keen not to overpay and are sticking to a more disciplined approach in this transfer window.

As for Spurs, they had earlier held initial discussions with Brentford over Mbeumo. The admiration only grew after Thomas Frank, who helped shape Mbeumo’s Premier League rise, was named the new head coach at Tottenham. But despite that connection, and although Mbeumo was reportedly intrigued by the possibility of reuniting with Frank, he has made it known that Manchester United is his preferred destination. One source told Sky Sports that while Mbeumo appreciates Spurs’ interest, he’s currently leaning towards the red half of Manchester.

North London sources have also denied any formal bid from Spurs, and it now appears the club has stepped away from the chase—unless, of course, United’s deal collapses, in which case Tottenham might revisit the situation.

Brentford, for their part, seem resigned to the idea of Mbeumo moving on, but only if their valuation is met. There’s a growing feeling within the club that the Cameroon international has earned his shot at a bigger stage after years of consistent performances. The ball is now in United’s court to seal the deal.
