Barcelona are on the brink of signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a loan deal that includes an option to buy, with all parties now deep in final negotiations. The Catalan club submitted their proposal through intermediaries, and while the deal isn’t official yet, it’s moving quickly toward completion.
United have given the green light to the structure of the deal, which suits Barcelona well, especially considering their ongoing financial struggles. By taking Rashford on an initial loan, Barça can secure a much-needed addition to their frontline without immediately committing to a large transfer fee.

The 27-year-old England international is seen as a great fit for Hansi Flick’s system. Rashford’s ability to operate both out wide and centrally makes him a valuable attacking option, and Barcelona have been in the market for exactly that kind of profile. The club felt they lacked depth on the left wing toward the end of last season, and with targets like Nico Williams rejecting a move and Luis Díaz proving too expensive, Rashford quickly became their most realistic and appealing option.
It’s understood that Flick has already spoken directly with Rashford and given his full approval to the move. The forward is reportedly excited by the opportunity, with sources saying he’s been keen on a switch to Camp Nou since January. Even before his short loan stint at Aston Villa last season, Rashford had been exploring a way out of Old Trafford. His time under Unai Emery saw him score four goals in 17 appearances, but his momentum was cut short by a hamstring injury in April. That setback kept him out of Villa’s final four matches and also saw him omitted from England’s latest squad for games against Andorra and Senegal.
Despite the injury, Rashford’s talent and versatility haven’t gone unnoticed in Spain. Barcelona value his directness, speed, and ability to find the net. Given their limited budget, Rashford ticks the boxes both on the pitch and financially, especially with the loan format allowing them to push any major spending to a later date. However, there is one hurdle left to clear — Rashford’s wages. He’s currently on £325,000 per week at United, a figure Barcelona simply can’t match. The player is aware of this and is reportedly open to taking a significant pay cut to make the move happen.
Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto have both confirmed Barcelona’s official offer has already been sent. With all signs pointing toward an agreement, Rashford could soon be preparing to wear the iconic Blaugrana shirt in what would be a fresh chapter in his career.
