Alphonso Davies Signs a Long-Term Contract With Bayern Munich To End Real Madrid Transfer Saga

After months of swirling rumors and endless speculation, Alphonso Davies has officially committed his future to Bayern Munich. The Canadian star has signed a long-term contract extension, shutting the door on Real Madrid’s pursuit once and for all. With this new deal, Davies will remain at the Allianz Arena until the end of the 2029-30 season.

For months, Alphonso Davies' future was a hot topic in the football world. With just six months left on his contract, some of Europe’s biggest clubs were circling, hoping to lure him away from Bayern Munich. Real Madrid and Manchester United were among his biggest admirers, with Madrid, in particular, making a strong push to sign him last summer. According to ESPN, Los Blancos even tried to strike a deal with Bayern, but the two clubs couldn't agree on a transfer fee. Madrid then shifted their focus to signing Davies on a free transfer in 2025 when his contract expired. Meanwhile, Manchester United also explored the possibility of bringing him in, viewing him as an ideal fit for Ruben Amorim’s system. However, the Red Devils ultimately opted for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu instead.

But all the speculation has now been put to rest. Davies has officially committed his future to Bayern, signing a five-year contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2030. Following the announcement, the 24-year-old expressed his excitement about continuing his journey in Munich. “I am very happy to have extended my contract at this great club," Davies said. "I came to FC Bayern when I was 18 and just wanted to learn as much as possible every day to become one of the best in my position. Now I'm looking forward to another five years together. I've already achieved a lot here, but there's more to come."

Securing Alphonso Davies’ future is a huge sigh of relief for Bayern Munich and their fans. The Canadian has been a key part of their recent success, and keeping him at the club was a top priority. But while one major contract situation is settled, Bayern’s work is far from over. Several other key players—Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Müller, and Leroy Sané—are all in the final six months of their contracts. And then there’s Jamal Musiala, whose deal runs until 2026, meaning Bayern must act fast to ensure their generational talent remains in Munich for the long haul.

Fortunately for Bayern supporters, it looks like there’s good news on the horizon regarding Musiala. According to journalist Kerry Hau, the club is close to reaching a long-term agreement with the 21-year-old. “Unless something completely out of the ordinary happens, Jamal Musiala will follow suit in February,” Hau reported. If the deal goes through, it would be a massive statement of intent from Bayern. Musiala is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in world football, and his new contract would reportedly make him Bayern’s highest-paid player, surpassing even Harry Kane.
