Virat Kohli Creates History! Most Catches for India in International Cricket

Virat Kohli is no stranger to breaking records with the bat, but during India’s Champions Trophy semi-final against Australia on 4th March, he made history due to his fielding. The 36-year-old reached a huge milestone at the Dubai International Stadium, surpassing the legendary Rahul Dravid to become India’s all-time leading catcher in international cricket.

The moment came when Kohli pulled off a sharp catch to dismiss Josh Inglis off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling. Not only did the catch break Australia’s momentum in a closely contested match, but it also etched Kohli’s name into the record books. With this catch, he took his tally to 335 international catches, edging past Dravid’s 334. While Dravid’s total included two catches for Asia XI and World XI, Kohli’s mark is now the highest for any Indian player in history.

Among international cricketers, Kohli is now in elite company. Only Ross Taylor (351), Ricky Ponting (364), and Mahela Jayawardene (440) have more catches than him across formats. In ODIs, he’s now tied with Ponting for the second-most catches ever, with 160 to his name. In Test cricket, he has 121 catches, trailing only Dravid (210) and VVS Laxman (135) among Indians. And in T20Is, Kohli’s 54 catches put him behind only Rohit Sharma (65), while he is level with Hardik Pandya.
