Former BCCI President and Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly escaped unhurt in an accident where a car in his convoy collided with a truck on the Durgapur Expressway earlier today. However, as per reports, two cars in his convoy suffered minor damages.
The incident took place in Dantanpur when a lorry unexpectedly cut in front of Sourav Ganguly’s convoy, forcing his driver to slam the brakes. This sudden stop triggered a chain reaction, leading to multiple cars in the convoy crashing into each other, with one even colliding with Ganguly’s vehicle. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but two cars sustained minor damage. The unexpected delay left Ganguly stuck on the road for about 10 minutes before he continued his journey to Burdwan University, where he attended a scheduled event.
At Burdwan University, Sourav Ganguly engaged with students, sharing insights about the future of Indian cricket. Despite the earlier chaos on the road, he appeared to be in great spirits, even reminiscing about his playing days. The former Indian captain, who also served as BCCI president, entertained the audience with stories from his time as both a cricketer and an administrator.
Beyond his past roles in cricket administration, Ganguly has now taken on a major responsibility in women’s cricket. In October 2024, he was appointed Director of Cricket at JSW Sports, where he oversees all cricketing ventures, including the Delhi Capitals Women's team in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Ahead of the 2025 WPL season, he played a crucial role in strengthening the Delhi Capitals squad, bringing in new talent from the auction. Ganguly has expressed confidence in the team’s potential and is determined to lead them to championship glory.
