Most Hundreds in ICC Tournaments by New Zealand Players

Rachin Ravindra has well and truly arrived on the big stage, lighting up the ICC Champions Trophy with a breathtaking century against Bangladesh. After being sidelined for New Zealand’s opening game against Pakistan due to a facial injury, Ravindra made a triumphant return, delivering a masterclass under pressure.

Chasing 237 in Rawalpindi, the Kiwis found themselves in early trouble at 15-2. But stepping in for the unwell Daryl Mitchell, Ravindra took charge, steering the innings with a sublime 105-ball 112. His knock, laced with 12 boundaries and a towering six, turned the tide in New Zealand’s favor. By the time he was dismissed in the 39th over, victory was all but sealed, with just 36 runs needed.

This century wasn’t just a match-winning effort – it was a record-breaking one. Ravindra now has four centuries in ICC tournaments, surpassing legends like Viv Richards and Hashim Amla, who managed three each. Among New Zealanders, he now holds the record outright, overtaking Nathan Astle and Kane Williamson’s tally of three. As for the all-time leaderboard, Rohit Sharma remains king with eight ICC tournament centuries, including a record-breaking five in the 2019 ODI World Cup alone.

With this knock, Ravindra has well and truly announced himself as one of cricket’s rising stars, proving that he thrives on the biggest stages when his team needs him most.
