The Gujarat Titans are set to bring back a meaningful tradition when they take on the Lucknow Super Giants at home on May 22. In what has become an annual gesture, GT will step onto the field at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad wearing a special lavender jersey — a symbol of solidarity with cancer fighters and a message to raise global awareness about the disease.
Before that, GT have another important clash coming up — they’ll face Delhi Capitals on May 18 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. But it’s the home fixture against LSG that carries added emotional weight, as the Titans will wear lavender for the third year in a row. Confirming the initiative on social media, Gujarat Titans posted on X: “Strength isn't just in the game, it's for standing in for a cause. Join us on 22nd May as our Titans don the lavender jersey to support the fight against cancer!”

This heartfelt initiative was first introduced back in 2023 when Hardik Pandya was still leading the side. GT wore the lavender kit for the first time in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad, and followed it up last season by donning the jersey against eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
Though Gujarat Titans have made the lavender jersey part of their identity in recent years, they’re not the only ones who’ve used IPL platforms for a cause. Royal Challengers Bengaluru kicked off this tradition back in 2011 by wearing a green jersey to promote environmental awareness. Rajasthan Royals have made the pink jersey their signature look, while Delhi Capitals also wore lavender back in 2015 to highlight cancer awareness.
