Full List of Players Who are Ruled Out of IPL 2025

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season is set to kick off on March 22, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens. But even before the tournament begins, multiple franchises have been forced into last-minute adjustments due to injuries and personal withdrawals.

While most cricketers dream of playing in the IPL, injuries and scheduling conflicts have forced several players to miss out this year. These withdrawals have left teams scrambling to adjust their squad combinations, and in some cases, the replacements have sparked controversy. Corbin Bosch’s inclusion, for example, led to a dispute with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as he was originally expected to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). With both leagues running at the same time, more such cases could emerge.

However, the biggest concerns revolve around Jasprit Bumrah and Mayank Yadav, two of the most exciting pacers in the tournament. Their injury status remains uncertain, leaving Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants anxiously waiting for updates. With the tournament opener just around the corner, the absence of key players could significantly impact team strategies. So, let’s see the list of injured players, their replacements, and also those whose status is currently unknown.

Confirmed Withdrawals and Replacements

Umran Malik (KKR) – Kolkata Knight Riders had high hopes for the express pacer after signing him for ₹75 lakh, but the National Cricket Academy (NCA) hasn’t cleared him to play. KKR has brought in Chetan Sakariya as his replacement.

Harry Brook (DC) – The English batter opted out of IPL 2025 to focus on his national commitments, triggering an IPL rule that bars non-injured players from participating for two seasons if they withdraw. Brook, who was signed by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.25 crore, now won’t be part of the league until at least 2027. The Delhi Capitals are yet to announce a replacement for Brook.

Brydon Carse (SRH) – The England all-rounder suffered a toe injury during the Champions Trophy and has been ruled out. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who bought him for ₹1 crore, have signed South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder for ₹75 lakh as a replacement.

Allah Ghazanfar (MI) – Mumbai Indians had high hopes for the young Afghan spinner after spending ₹4.8 crore on him at the auction. However, an injury kept him out of the Champions Trophy, and he won’t recover in time for IPL 2025. MI has already roped in Mujeeb Ur Rahman for ₹2 crore as his replacement.

Lizaad Williams (MI) – Another injury blow for Mumbai, as the South African pacer has been ruled out. Bought for ₹75 lakh, Williams will now be replaced by fellow South African Corbin Bosch, who previously worked with Rajasthan Royals as a net bowler.

Players with Uncertain Availability

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have a cloud of uncertainty hanging over their pace attack, with Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Mohsin Khan all carrying fitness concerns. The fact that LSG haven’t named any replacements yet has only fueled speculation. However, Shardul Thakur and Shivam Mavi, two players who went unsold in the mega-auction, have been seen training with the team, hinting at potential backup options.

Jasprit Bumrah (MI) – The Mumbai Indians’ spearhead is still recovering from a back injury. While MI is yet to confirm his availability, missing Bumrah would be a huge setback, especially given the team’s existing bowling concerns.

Lockie Ferguson (PBKS) – Punjab Kings are also waiting for clarity on Ferguson’s fitness. The Kiwi pacer is a crucial part of their bowling attack, and his absence would force PBKS to rethink their plans.
