Delhi Capitals Dominate WPL 2025 – Secure Top Spot on the Points Table

Delhi Capitals put on a dominant all-round performance to cruise past defending champions Mumbai Indians by nine wickets, claiming the top spot in the Women's Premier League standings on Friday. Their victory was built on the back of a brilliant spin attack, with Minnu Mani (3/17) and Jess Jonassen (3/25) ripping through MI’s batting order and restricting them to a below-par 123/9.

Chasing 124, DC’s opening duo of Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma made it look easy. They stitched together a rapid 85-run stand off just 59 balls, putting their team firmly in control. Shafali was in explosive form, smashing 43 off 28 balls before falling to Amanjot Kaur, mistiming a big shot that landed safely in Amelia Kerr’s hands near the boundary. Lanning, who had been searching for form, silenced any doubts with a classy unbeaten 60 off 49 balls, peppered with nine fours. Jemimah Rodrigues chipped in with a quick 15* off 10 as DC wrapped up the chase with a whopping 33 balls to spare.

With this emphatic win, DC climbed to the top of the table with eight points from six matches, while MI, now with six points from five games, slipped to second. It was Delhi’s fourth victory in six outings, reinforcing their status as serious title contenders. Up next, they face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday, while Mumbai will look to bounce back against UP Warriorz in Lucknow on 6th March.
