David Warner Becomes the Sixth Batter to Complete 13,000 Runs in T20 History

David Warner finally made his mark in the Pakistan Super League, guiding Karachi Kings to a tense, low-scoring win over Peshawar Zalmi with a gritty half-century – his first of the tournament. After a series of quiet outings, Warner stepped up when his team needed him most at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The Kings found themselves in early trouble, losing three wickets inside the powerplay. But Warner anchored the innings beautifully. He stitched together key partnerships with Irfan Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Khushdil Shah to keep Karachi in the hunt. His half-century came off 39 balls, and he eventually finished with 60 off 47, hitting five fours and a six along the way. His knock ended when Luke Wood outfoxed him with a slower delivery that gripped off the surface and drew a mistimed shot. Even though Warner couldn’t see the game through, his calm and calculated innings laid the foundation, helping the Kings edge home in a nail-biting finish. And for the fans in Karachi, it was the perfect farewell in what was their team’s final home game of the season.

But beyond the match, there was a personal milestone for Warner to celebrate. During his knock, he became just the sixth player in T20 history to cross the 13,000-run mark – a list that includes players like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik, and David Miller. Warner reached the landmark in his 403rd innings, making him the third-fastest to do so after Gayle (381 innings) and Kohli (386).

Coming into this game, Warner hadn’t had the best start – his scores were 12, 0, 31, and 3. But with this important innings under his belt, he’ll be hoping to carry that momentum into the away leg as the Kings chase their second PSL title. Despite going unsold in the IPL, Warner has shown he's still a big name in the franchise scene, having recently led Sydney Thunder to the Big Bash final.

For the Karachi Kings, the campaign has been a mixed bag – three wins from five games – but with six points in the bank and the likes of Khushdil Shah and Abbas Afridi contributing with both bat and ball, they’ll back themselves to go on a run. Warner’s return to form might just be the spark they needed.
