The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a massive ₹58 crore cash reward for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team after their triumphant campaign at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This victory cemented India’s dominance in the tournament, making them the only team to win the Champions Trophy three times.
India’s campaign was nothing short of spectacular, as they went unbeaten throughout the tournament and sealed the title with a four-wicket win over New Zealand in the final on March 9. The cash reward will be distributed among players, coaching and support staff, and the men’s selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar, as confirmed by the BCCI’s official release. This reward comes on top of the ₹20 crore ($2.24 million) official prize money India received for lifting the Champions Trophy, while runners-up New Zealand earned $1.12 million (₹9.72 crore).
It’s not the first time the BCCI has honored its champions with a bumper cash reward. After India’s T20 World Cup win in Barbados last year, the board had promised a staggering ₹125 crore payout, nearly three times the prize money given to the 2011 World Cup-winning squad led by MS Dhoni. BCCI President Roger Binny acknowledged the team’s incredible achievement, calling their back-to-back ICC title wins "special."
"Winning back-to-back ICC titles is special, and this reward recognizes Team India's dedication and excellence on the global stage," Binny said. "The cash award is a recognition of the hard work that everyone puts in behind the scenes. This was also our second ICC trophy in 2025, following the ICC U19 Women's World Cup triumph, and it highlights the strong cricketing ecosystem in place in our country."
The Champions Trophy victory further solidified Rohit Sharma’s legacy as one of India’s most successful captains, having now guided the team to multiple ICC trophies. For the players, this cash reward is a well-earned bonus. However, the focus will now shift to future challenges. But for now, Team India and its fans have every reason to celebrate.
